Biography

Helen is a proper foodie but she began her career in live TV as a multi-camera director. Soon she found herself filming with Oasis, Blur, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Gorillaz.
A passion for food and for the countryside led to her producing and directing the innovative television series ‘Jamie at Home’, with Jamie Oliver. As a result of its success, she was invited to direct her first TV campaign for Sainsbury’s and other series with Heston Blumenthal and Raymond Blanc followed. Her love of music as both a player and director culminated in capturing the final orchestral performance of the late Ennio Morricone at Abbey Road Studios.
Since then she’s been mainly directing commercials, specialising in food and lifestyle. She has proven herself equally adept with dinners and diners, conjuring mouth-watering food and realistic performances. Her visually captivating and contemporary style is called on by brands such as M&S, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons in the UK plus many leading brands in the US. David Reviews commented that she has a knack for making “any dish, modest or madly ambitious, completely irresistible”. Helen has often been collaborative on campaigns, working with animators and puppeteers. Her work celebrates the joy of friends and family, often highlighting the delight of preparing and sharing food, creating scenes which feel uniquely atmospheric and warmly authentic.
Though she’s an exacting director, she’s a delight to work with and certainly doesn’t make a meal of it.
